Hi! My name is Erika and I was born and raised in northern Mexico. From a very early age, I was able to develop a deep sense of body awareness through dance. This eventually led me to discover yoga in 2011 and since then it has been the catalyst that has helped me awaken and expand in all aspects of her life. As it provided me with a new way to move, ground, and release excess energy back into the world, while allowing me to experience a new sense of inner peace.
I became certified to teach yoga in 2014 and I am now an E-RYT200 based in Houston, Texas. In 2016, I started leading and developing my own yoga retreats, trainings, and workshops mostly in Mexico and USA.
Teaching allows me to share with others a new way to connect, while guiding my students through a class that is strong and steady with a dynamic, creative flow that incorporates graceful sequences that are physically challenging and transforming through the connection of breath and movement. In this sense, all of my classes are inspired by the movement and grace of the human form. I love diving into anatomy, the psychology of yoga, stress and mental health, and how we can use yoga to improve not only our physical health but more importantly our minds and hearts.
By infusing the power of intention and self-love, my aim is to guide my students to explore both fluidity and stillness in the asanas while subtly expanding outside of their comfort zone to move with intention in practice and in life, ultimately giving them tools to achieve their full potential both on and off the mat.
Moreover, growing up near the beach, instilled me a deep connection with the ocean and nature. Leading yoga retreats gives me the opportunity to explore and reconnect not only with others, as well as with Self, but also with Pachamama — our mother Earth.
Ultimately, I feel that this life is about balance, acknowledging and working with deep, extreme emotions, and using the yogic tools to dig deeper so we can go higher.
I hope I get to connect with you soon too! Check out my schedule and come meet me on the mat!
